The Office of the President has tasked the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to investigate allegations that individuals allegedly connected to the Jubilee House are encroaching on Ghana International School (GIS) land.
The directive comes after two incidents: on August 29, 2024, an attempt was made to deliver blocks to the school’s property, followed by a tipper truck carrying sand trying to enter the grounds on August 31, 2024. On September 5, 2024, the Jubilee House issued a statement denying the allegations.
The Presidency has formally requested the IGP to investigate the matter and urged the public to ignore any conflicting reports. Security from Ghana International School (GIS) and the Cantonments Police intervened, leading to the arrest of two individuals and Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Opoku, a plain clothed officer who identified himself as part of the VVIP unit of the Office of the President. In response, GIS management has implemented measures to safeguard its property and issued a warning against any further attempts at encroachment.
