The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced that the new terminal building at the Prempeh I International Airport (PIA) in Kumasi will be operational starting Monday, July 1, 2024.
In a press release issued on Monday, June 24, GACL stated that Africa World Airlines and Passion Air have been advised to inform their passengers scheduled to travel on the specified dates to be aware of this new arrangement.
The statement noted that the new terminal building boasts several features, including the capacity to handle 800,000 passengers annually, process 200 passengers per hour, two passenger boarding bridges, a presidential lounge, three additional lounges, four boarding gates, four self-service check-in kiosks, and nine check-in desks.
Additionally, the terminal includes 16 immigration booths, offices for airlines and staff, a large commercial retail area, a currency declaration office, a Forex Bureau, a visa-on-arrival facility, an automated car park, a multipurpose faith room, a dedicated area for unaccompanied minors, modern baggage handling systems, and a medical facility, among other amenities.
The release emphasized GACL’s commitment to providing world-class airport facilities and services to position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in the airport business in West Africa.
