The Second Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Nartey Yeboah popularly known as Chairman Dollar has urged political parties to set aside partisan interests and unite in the fight against illegal mining, widely known as galamsey.
In a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter), Mr. Yeboah emphasized that instead of trading blame over the surge in galamsey activities, political actors should collaborate to confront the issue decisively.
He described illegal mining as a national emergency that demands a united, non-partisan approach to safeguard the environment and protect the country’s future.
“Instead of blaming each other, political parties should unite to fight galamsey together. It’s a national issue that requires collective and non-partisan action to protect our environment and future,” he stated.
Mr. Yeboah also called on all stakeholders including political leaders and Civil Society Organizations to rally behind the push for sustainable mining practices and the strict enforcement of mining laws.
