The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the aftermath of the recent elections.
Updating the public on Thursday, December 12, on the state of security issues in the country, the Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, said the Service remains engaged with the public to ensure stability.
She noted that a delegation of Civil Society Organizations and religious leaders paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare and the National Elections Security Taskforce. The visit served as an opportunity to discuss post-election strategies and commend the police for their efforts in de-escalating tensions during the elections.
Despite the progress made, the Police Service emphasized that their work is ongoing and officers remain on the ground, actively monitoring and addressing potential security threats to ensure the safety of all citizens.
The public was also reminded of the toll-free emergency number, 0800311311, which remains operational for reporting any security concerns. The police urged citizens to use the line to report issues requiring immediate attention.
She reassured Ghanaians that nationwide operations are being conducted to apprehend individuals seeking to disrupt peace. She encouraged the public to cooperate with the police to maintain law and order across the country.
