Protestors in Kenya have filled the streets of Nairobi, the capital demonstrating against what is described to be ‘a wave of unexplained abductions’ of government critics and the detainment of others.
Reports indicate that dozens of Kenyans have been abducted in recent months, following a number of uprising and political unrest in the East African country.
Local media reports that at least eleven protestors have been detained during the protests which started against the government in June this year.
Human rights group believe that the abductions allegedly supervised by government are made possible on account of the extrajudicial arrests on Kenya’s police and intelligence services.
However, Kenyan authorities have said that the government does not condone or engage in extrajudicial killings or abductions.
Police have refused to engage with the press regarding the matter and have fired tear gas into the protestant crowds to disperse them as part of their strategies to restore calm and order.
