Aduana Stars forward Yahaya Mohammed, has advised Ghanaian players not to be money conscious when playing in the domestic league.
According to him, players must concentrate on giving out their best and prove their worth which will propel them to get bigger contracts abroad.
Yahaya explained that the Ghanaian economy does not enable clubs to be able to pay players the right salaries and wages thus players must be considerate in their demands when signing a contract.
“Ghana Football cannot make a player rich. If I ask Aduana to pay me Ghc 2000 a month and $5,000 signing on fee then I am not been fair to Aduana because of the economy here in Ghana”, he told Happy FM.
“The club owners are spending a lot on the teams. They spend on transportation, hotels bill, winning bonuses, salaries and wages and many others. Mostly teams spend close to Ghc 30,000 just for three points on match days. Most at times I think of the stakeholders”.
“You must kill yourself and play because the offers will come and that is where you will make a lot of money:.
“If you a player here in Ghana, you have to charge based on the economy. You have to look at the economy and charge the club”, he added.
He advised players to also stay away from alcohol, bad company and flirting with women to be able to prolong their careers.
