PHFAoG congratulates Kwabena Mintah Akandoh on his appointment as Minister of Health Designate

The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) has extended its congratulations to Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency, on his recent appointment as Minister of Health. The announcement comes following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama, recognizing Mr. Akandoh’s extensive experience and dedication to healthcare advancement in Ghana.

In a statement released by PHFAoG, the association lauded Hon. Akandoh’s hard work, astuteness, and valour during his tenure as the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee. His leadership in addressing the challenges within the healthcare sector, particularly those affecting private health facilities, has not gone unnoticed.

The PHFAoG highlighted Hon. Akandoh’s significant contributions to healthcare, including his advocacy for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) reimbursements for private health facilities and efforts to enhance human resource support within the private sector. The association described its past collaborations with him as fruitful and expressed optimism for even stronger cooperation as he prepares to assume his new ministerial role.

“The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) has indeed enjoyed an exceptional relationship and camaraderie during your tenure as the Ranking Member in your numerous efforts to extenuate the challenges of the sector which included your intervention in seeking for reimbursement for NHIS accredited facilities to your advocacy for human resource support for the private health sector,” they stated.

The PHFAoG emphasized the importance of private-public partnerships and expressed confidence in his ability to champion groundbreaking policies aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the country.
