Deputy Information Minister Perry Okudzeto says president Nana Akufo-Addo took the decision to move to his Nima residence because of his family.
Report went widespread late last week that, the National Security has given shop owners and traders around the private residence of President Nana Akufo-Addo one week to pack out of the area.
And speaking to Dr. Cann on Happy FM’s EPA HOA DABEN Show, Mr. Okudzeto revealed the reason behind the president’s decision to leave the Flagstaff House to his Nima residence.
“If you talk about security, it has been taken care of. He chose to stay at his Nima residence because of his family,” Mr. Okudzeto told Happy FM.
“There is no cause for alarm because I can assure you that national security is on top of issues.”
The soft-spoken Information minister was coy to reveal the current abode of the first gentleman of the land “I will not disclose where the president sleeps and like I said, the security details are full in charge. People are politicizing the whole issue.”
He added, “The hawkers closer to his Nima residence approached the president as soon as he won power to stay at the residence. This initiation was put up by the people and not the president. The president agreed to their pleadings.
“As I speak, the hawkers at the president residence have started packing, but people just want to score political points,” he deduced.
Reports indicate that traders will be compensated with amounts ranging from GHc 3,000 to GHc 10,000.
