Peace Is gained through diplomacy- Small Arms Commission

Programs Officer of the Small Arms Commission, J.B. Asante has said that, dialogue is the only plausible and true way to promote and sustain peace in Ghana.

Speaking on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political show on Happy FM, J.B. Asante said that, “we do not need guns to protect us or give us peace”.

According to him, the only true way for peace to exist in the country is through dialogue and understanding. Citing the First World War as an example, he made it known that, the weapons used during the war did not bring peace but it brought only misery.

“It was after all parties involved had engaged in dialogue that peace was achieved,” he added.

He explained that guns are not the source of comfort but they rather breed unrest and violence.

He also cautioned members of vigilante groups to desist from taking guns from the bigwigs of the various political parties they belong to to engage in nefarious acts as they may end up harming either members of their own families or themselves.
