Parliament resumes session today, October 15

Parliament is set to reconvene for its fifth meeting of the fourth session today, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre. This temporary relocation is necessary due to ongoing renovation works in the main chamber of Parliament.

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin formally notified Members of Parliament of the reconvening through a statement issued on September 30, 2024. Prior to this meeting, Parliament held an emergency sitting at the Dome, approving a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank.

This loan supports Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme, addressing financial sustainability and operational efficiency challenges crucial for the country’s economic stability.

The loan agreement was initially disapproved before Parliament’s recess, prompting the House’s recall on September 3, 2024. The Dome serves as the temporary venue, ensuring uninterrupted parliamentary proceedings amidst the main chamber’s renovation.
