Parliament: Gov’t withdraws road Traffic Amendment Regulation bill

Parliament to reconvene on September 3

Government has withdrawn the controversial road traffic amendment regulation, 2012 (L.I 2180) for better stakeholder consultation.

The minister responsible for roads and transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah on Friday, June 14, 2024 laid before the house a road traffic regulation legislative instrument

The LI after being mature in 21 sitting days will grant MPs, minister of state and other state officials to use sirens and be exempted from speed limits. It will also grant the registration and licensing of motor vehicles.

Meanwhile, during the proceedings today, the minister for Local Government and Decentralization, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah withdrew the LI on behalf of Transport Minister for more stakeholder engagements.
