Ghana’s Parliament has successfully passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill, granting approval for the government to utilize a total of 259 billion Ghana Cedis from the consolidated fund during the fiscal year 2024.
The appropriation bill encompasses the comprehensive estimates of the government’s proposed expenditure for the upcoming financial year.
The parliamentary decision to pass the appropriation bill was preceded by the approval of crucial revenue bills, including the VAT Amendment Bill 2023, Excise Duty Amendment Bill 2023, and the Emissions Levy Bill 2023.
Once the 2023 Appropriation Bill receives the President’s approval, it is set to come into effect on January 1, 2023.
In light of these developments, Parliament has officially adjourned sine die, signaling the end of its sessions for the year and allowing Members of Parliament to engage in Christmas festivities.
