General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, has assured Ghana’s U-23 team( Black Meteors) of the FA’s full support in their quest to qualify for the 2024 Olympic games to be hosted in France, Paris.
The Black Meteors took a step closer to the 2024 Olympics games when they secured qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after defeating Algeria.
The U-23 AFCON tournament serves as a pathway to the Olympic Games and is the ultimate goal of the Black Meteors as they dream of playing in Paris, in 2024.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Time with the Federations segment, Mr. Addo sounded optimistic about the talent of the Black Meteors and is confident Ghana will qualify for the Olympic games.
“The FA is preparing adequately so that the Black Meteors can qualify for the Olympic games. This is a team that holds a lot of promise and can serve as a perfect transition for these players should they qualify. We have a very youthful team in the Black Stars and we will try to speak to the clubs so they can release these eligible players so they can help Ghana’s Black Meteors secure the ultimate”.
Ghana’s Black Meteors haven’t qualified for the Olympic Games since Athens 2004, where notable players like Stephen Appiah, Asamoah Gyan, Joseph Paintsil, and John Mensah were involved.
