Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has given his unwavering backing to the 2024 Green Ghana Day, urging all Ghanaians to join in the nationwide tree planting effort.Otumfuo emphasized that this year’s Green Ghana Day on Friday, June 7 will be an opportunity for Ghanaians to showcase their commitment to preserving the country’s forests and ensuring a sustainable future for the next generation, leaving a lasting legacy of a greener and richer Ghana.He praised the government for launching the Green Ghana Project, highlighting the vital role trees play in protecting the environment, combating climate change, and preserving the planet for future generations.He made this call when Chairman for the National Planning Committee of Green Ghana, Benito Owusu-Bio, Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey and some dignitaries payed a visit to him. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, encouraged traditional leaders to take a leading role in promoting tree planting and nurturing among their people, emphasizing that this collective effort will significantly support the government’s ambitious reforestation initiatives and yield lasting benefits.
