Osman Ayariga fires back at President Akufo-Addo over Mahama's legacy

The Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has responded to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s remarks, where he suggested that former President John Dramani Mahama is only remembered for “dumsor” (power outages).

Osman Ayariga rebutted the president’s claim, arguing that Mr. Mahama is rather remembered for solving the power crisis that plagued the country during his tenure. In contrast, he asserted that Akufo-Addo’s presidency is synonymous with corruption scandals.

“At least, John Mahama fixed the dumsor crisis,” Ayariga remarked. “But when you mention Akufo-Addo’s name, what comes to mind? Corruption everywhere.”

He criticized the Akufo-Addo government’s flagship programs, referring to them as failed promises and scams. He listed initiatives such as “One Village, One Dam,” “One District, One Factory,” “One Constituency, One Million Dollars,” and the National Cathedral project, suggesting that they have not lived up to expectations.

According to him, the president’s tenure has been marred by numerous controversies, casting a shadow over any achievements. He implied that the corruption narrative surrounding Akufo-Addo’s leadership has become more prominent than any positive legacy.
