Oliver Barker-Vormawor denied bail for the third time

EC’s decision to retain Akua Donkor’s image on ballot “unconstitutional” – Barker-Vormawor

The Convener of the Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been denied bail for the third time today at the Circuit Court.

This refusal comes after the Attorney General’s Department opposed his bail application, following prior denials by both an Accra High Court and the Circuit Court.

In contrast, another detainee, Fanny Otoo, who has been unwell since the arrest, was granted bail set at GH₵20,000 with two sureties.

The court has adjourned the case to October 14, 2024. Additionally, the State submitted an affidavit opposing the bail applications for 20 other anti-galamsey detainees.

The State claimed they had not received the applications, despite court documents showing they were served on October 2. The judge instructed that the lawyers representing the protestors be properly served, and the case has been adjourned to Wednesday, October 9.
