The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Ranking Member of the constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini has revealed that one threat with Okada legalization is that many people will venture into the business when it is legalized, making it difficult to control the business.
He noted that this threat was identified when the NDC did a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) analysis of the Okada legalization.
Speaking to Happy FM’s Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he disclosed: “The threat is that if we legalize it, many people will move to the business. Because it was once a risky business, people did not want to get involved. But now that it will be legalized, many people will go into it. So how do you control it? “.
The Tamale Central MP was, however, positive that this issue will be resolved when he added: “Going forward you might have to reconsider your roads and design it for Okada’s to use. By that time, the taxes they would have paid would have been used for that”.
He furthered that the Okada business will create more jobs, hence allowing more taxes to be paid for the boosting of the economy.
The NDC flagbearer, as part of his campaign activities ahead of this year’s elections, promised to legitimize the business because, in his view, it creates more jobs for the youth of this country.
However, many people have questioned the safety of people who will be involved in this business.
