Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George has expressed his distrust in Ghana’s present ruling government NPP and their inability to meet the needs of Ghanaians.
While speaking as a patron of the ongoing OccupyBoG protests today, Sam George hinted that the increasing woes of Ghanaians have led to the uprising by the young and old alike. He said. “I did not know that Ghanaians were this desperate. They are more desperate than I envisaged. Look at the number of people ; old people, young people who are out simply because they are fed up with this government; it’s a mess, it’s a big mess.”
Speaking to happy.ghana.com, the NDC official submitted that the government’s ears have been shut to the petition of citizens for better living conditions, and are not willing to hear the cries of the Ghanaian people. “Well we know that the government is stone deaf; we know that Akufo-Addo’s ears are literally decoration. He and his appointees, their ears are literally decoration; they don’t listen to anything.”
However, he declared that the ruling government will be brought up to speed regarding the damage caused to the Ghanaian people at the imminent 2024 general election for a new President and members of parliament. “But we will continue to speak and ultimately the people of Ghana will speak on the 7th of Dec. 2024 and whether he likes it or not, he would have to listen.”
The NDC minority in Parliament, the pressure group Arise Ghana, and other concerned organisations have drawn a sizable crowd of demonstrators to begin the #OccupyBoG protests.
The primary objective of the protest is to demand the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, along with his deputies.
