Ntosue D/A primary cries over neglected school building

Even though it’s widely known that education is the key to success, most rural areas in Ghana lack the facilities for education and Sefwi Ntosue, and Sarfo Nkwanta is not an exception.

Residents of Ntosue and Sarfo Nkwanta in the Bia West District of Western North Region cry onto the government for a new primary school block.

Little children in upper, lower primary and kindergarten risk their lives in the name of enjoying teaching and learning activities. The building is so bad that it can collapse on these innocent children any time soon.

The children, especially those in kindergarten sit on clay blocks to learn. The school runs from kindergarten to primary six, with a population of over 70.

Speaking to Sefwinews.com, the PTA Chairman of the Ntosue D/A Primary School said the major problem affecting the community is their school building.

He said there had been promises made by politicians to build a new facility for them, but yet to be fulfilled.

The PTA Chairman, Op. Kwadwo Nkansah Mensah lamented that successive governments had neglected their school building and an attempt to seek support has yielded no result.

He said the facility has turned into death trap and even more disturbing is the absence of desks for the children, therefore, called on the government to solve the situation immediately.

On his part, the Unit Committee Chairman, Mr Jonathan Lamptey told Sefwinews.com that the school was made with woods by the residents themselves for past years, but yet to see face lift since its establishment.

Mr Jonathan Lamptey called on the government and independent bodies to come to their aid to help secure the future of their wards through education.

Some of the pupils disclosed that, on most occasions, they are with no choice than to sit on the floor to learn and write since there is no furniture.

The pupils want the government to support them with a school block, desks and other teaching materials.
