Nsoatreman Football Club have officially withdrawn from the ongoing 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League.
In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, the club stated that they won’t also compete in any competition organized by the GFA.
The MTN FA Cup winners in 2024 stated that their decision to withdraw from any GFA organized competition comes on the back of the events involving their matches with Asante Kotoko and Samartex.
“We write to respectively withdraw from the ongoing Ghana Premier League and any other competitions organized by the Ghana Football Association due to concerns over the security and safety of our players.
“We are forced to take this decision due to recent events involving our matches with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Samartex FC, which we officially wrote to your high office,” part of the statement read.
Nsoatreman’s home game with Asante Kotoko was marred with acts of hooliganism which led to the murder of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley.
The team bus was also attacked while returning from a Ghana Premier League game against Samartex by individuals believed to be friends of the late Nana Pooley.
