NPRA jabbed with RTI request from Okudzeto Ablakwa over SSNIT hotels sale clearance

Expired Rice distribution: i am surprised that the ministry does not know about this- Ablakwa Responds

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has made a legal request to the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) for details regarding the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT)’s decision to offload a 60% sale in its four hotels to Rock CIty Hotel through the Right To Information Act (RTI).

The demand for information was triggered after the statements by the Minister for Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, in Parliament, confirming NPRA’s directive allowing SSNIT to proceed with the controversial sale despite requests for further deliberations before approval.

According to the Minister, the NPRA reviewed the transaction and found the process satisfactory.
“So, as a Minister, I can tell you on authority that NPRA has since indicated that they had seen the processes and they think that SSNIT can go ahead” the Minister noted.

Mr Ablakwa’s RTI request seeks to verify the Minister’s claims and obtain a copy of NPRA’s review to ensure the transaction does not violate any conflict of interest provisions in the 1992 constitution.
