A delegate has collapsed at the Ablekuma South polling station in the ongoing parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been confirmed dead.
The deceased, Jonathan Nii Ocran, according to Happy FM’s reporter, Allan Green was rushed to the Korle Bu teaching hospital where he was confirmed dead from cardiac arrest Saturday afternoon.
The NPP is conducting parliamentary primaries in 104 constituencies.
The NPP has I69 seats out of the total 275 seats in Parliament.
Regional breakdown
The Ashanti Region has three of the NPP “orphan constituencies”, Asawasi, Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Sekyere Afram Plains.
Ahafo Region has two, Asutifi South and Asunafo South.
NPP has six orphan constituencies in Bono East.
Central Region has four whilst Eastern Region has six constituencies out of the total 33 in the region.
Northern region has nine and North East has three – Chereponi, Yagaba-Kobore and Yunyoo.
The Savannah region has six, Upper East has 12 and Upper West has six each.
All 18 constituencies in the Volta are orphan for the NPP whilst the Western Region has four.
Greater Accra has 13 orphan constituencies.
This is steps the NPP is taking to win some of those seats in the 2020 general elections.
