Amid the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates Election, delegates have been cautioned against taking pictures of their cast votes.

The NPP Regional Organizer for Oti Region, Felix Ade speaking to Happy 98.9 FM’s correspondent emphasized the party’s commitment to adhering to guidelines set forth by the Police Regional Commander.

He stated, “We’re going strictly by the guidelines and the most important things for the success of this election. We’re going to insist on a crucial concern that no one is allowed to take pictures of their votes cast.”

He also disclosed that rigorous measures would be in place to prevent any attempts to capture votes or use recording devices. “These are guidelines from the Police Regional Commander and yesterday he indicated that every delegate will be scanned to prevent taking votes, or any recording device will be seized and not be entertained,” he warned.

The regional organizer also made it clear that loitering around the voting centre would not be permitted. Delegates were advised to leave the vicinity promptly after casting their votes and await the coalition of results in designated areas.

He further reassured delegates that their right to vote would not be impeded, but strict enforcement of the demarcated gathering areas was essential to maintaining order and ensuring a peaceful process.

The NPP Super Delegates Election is currently under with a total of 956 delegates expected to cast their votes. The aims to select five presidential aspirants who will contend in the party’s primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.

The list of aspirants includes prominent figures such as Alan Kyerematen, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Kennedy Agyapong, Joe Ghartey, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kwadwo Poku, Boakye Agyarko, Kofi Konadu Apraku, Francis Addai Nimoh, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The top five vote-getters in the Super Delegates Election will advance to the November primaries, where they will compete for the NPP’s flagbearer position in the 2024 general election.
