The New Partriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Agona West Constituency, Chris Arthur has accused Cynthia Morrison’s supporters of firing gunshots at a rally in Agona Nyankrom in the Central Region.

According to him, Cynthia Morrison’s supporters attacked his campaign team when they were returning to Agona Swedru from a campaign tour of the Otinkorang community.

“When we were returning from Otinkorang, we encountered the supporters of Incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency who is contesting as an independent candidate, Cynthia Morrison at Agona Nyankrom where she wa also doing her campaign. Suddenly, Cynthia Morrison’s supporters blocked the road, preventing us from passing through. One of them forcibly opened the gate of one of our cars and poured alcohol into the eyes of the driver.”

“The supporters approached us and started using their hands to hit our cars and as we passed through the crowd, a gun was fired from the crowd which injured my campaign team manager, Haruna Rashid, he said.

He added that, the NPP Agona West Constituency Chairman, Jibril Tanko noted that their Nasara coordinator was also injured during the attack.

“I informed Chris Arthur for us to change the route since the tension was so high but a gun was unexpectedly discharged affecting our Nasara coordinator and campaign team manager.”

“Haruna Rashid was rushed to Accra for treatment while other supporters who sustained injuries were taken to Agona Swedru Government Hospital. We have reported the incident to the police”.
