NPP hints at reforms in bid to secure victory in 2028 elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled plans for significant reforms aimed at securing victory in Ghana’s 2028 general elections.

Speaking at a press engagement on Monday, December 23, 2024, the National Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, acknowledged the impact of the party’s defeat in the recently concluded 2024 elections. He reassured party members of their commitment to rebuilding. “We have taken a heavy blow after losing the presidential race, and we are very aware of how pained our followers are; we share in your pain,” he stated.

The party plans to establish an Election Review Committee, which will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the 2024 elections. According to the NPP, the committee will identify the party’s shortcomings and develop strategies to address them through consultations with members, sympathizers, and other stakeholders.

Additionally, the NPP intends to amend its constitution to align with the party’s new direction. Mr. Ntim called on members to support these changes, describing them as vital to the party’s success.

Encouraging steadfastness among party supporters, Ntim urged members to contribute to the party’s revival and preparation for the next elections. “People of Ghana, we may have lost the war, but we are still standing in this battle. We are not going to relax. The battle for victory in 2028 starts today. And we know that as we have said this, our followers in Ghana and beyond will support and move with us in any approach to bring victory to the NPP once again,” he declared.
