Ghana’s Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul has asserted that the country’s security has been resolute and fortified under the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

In a recent parliamentary session, Dominic Nitiwul, contributing to the ongoing debate on the 2024 budget statement and economic policy, highlighted the government’s proactive measures and substantial investments in the defence sector.

He declared that the NPP administration has set a new standard by providing state-of-the-art equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces, making the country a benchmark for others.

He highlighted what he believes to be an exceptional commitment from the NPP gov’t to ensuring the safety of Ghanaians, emphasizing that the ruling party has surpassed previous governments in equipping the Army.

Assuring citizens, Nitiwul affirmed that the Ghana Armed Forces would continue to receive the necessary tools and resources to maintain peace and facilitate the free movement of individuals across the nation.

However, Haruna Iddrisu, former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South has raised concern regarding the state of military pensions in Ghana.

Drawing attention to the financial challenges faced by the National Investment Bank (NIB), which guarantees the pension scheme, Haruna Iddrisu called for urgent action to address the looming crisis.
