Provisional results from the Manhyia North Constituency show that incumbent Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu Amankwah has lost to newbie, Akwasi Konadu.
While Mr Owusu Amankwah polled 273 votes, his major Contender, Akwasi Konadu garnered 278 votes.
The Manhyia seat has always been won by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 1996 and could best be described as one of the safest seats for the party in the region, a reason which gives the Manhyia North and Manhyia South constituencies public attention during parliamentary primaries.
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates held parliamentary primaries in 2,365 polling centers across 168 constituencies in the country.
A total of 374 aspirants are contesting out of which 325 are men and 51 are women.
