Francis Asenso Boakye, Deputy Chief of Staff has been elected as the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Bantama constituency for the 2020 elections.
He defeated Daniel Okyem Aboagye with four hundred and fifty-two votes (452) with incumbent MP trailing with one hundred and twenty-two (122).
Bantama is a stronghold of the NPP, however, Francis Asenso Boakye will faceoff with the NDC’s candidate in the 2020 general election
Delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) started voting today at 7 am for their preferred Parliamentary candidates to represent them on the ticket of the NPP in the December 7 polls.
A total of three hundred and seventy-four (374) aspirants contested in one hundred and sixty-eight (168) constituencies. Out of the number, three hundred and twenty-five (325) are men and fifty-one (51) women. Sixty-seven (67) of the aspirants are contesting unopposed and would be acclaimed by delegates of the party at the various constituencies.
Voting ended at 1:00pm with counting currently ongoing around the country.
