Reports reaching Happy 98.9 FM indicates that polling stations at the Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have no Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to safeguard delegates against contracting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reporting from the Nungua Police Station polling station, Happy FM’s Nyansa Boakwa noted that he has visited some polling stations across the constituency and has not sighted veronica buckets and thermometer guns there.
“There is a high security presence in the area but the only thing not going well is the COVID-19 protocols. There are no veronica buckets and thermometer guns in the polling stations I have visited including Saint Michaels and Nungua Police station polling stations,” he said.
From his account, there are also no hand sanitizers available for delegates to use per the safety protocols declared by the president and the health ministry. “Only election officials at the polling stations have sanitizers.”
The report noted that the only directive being observed in the area is the social distancing protocol.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) today is holding its parliamentary primaries to elect parliamentary aspirants to represent the party in the December 2020 elections.
