Residents in the North East area of the Northern Region have voted massively in support of the creation of the new North East region.
A total of 205,121 voted YES in favour of the new North East region while 447 voted NO.
Out of the total votes of 205,804, 236 votes were rejected and 205,568 were valid votes.

The YES votes in favour of the new region represented 99.8 per cent of the valid votes cast.
