The Atta Mills Institute (AMI) says it will not sit and watch idly for the achievements of the late President to be attributed to a third party.
Chief of Staff to the Atta Mills Institute (AMI), Andy Kankam indicated, “We’re not going to allow anyone take away the legacies of the late President Atta Mills.”
Andy Kankam who was displeased about the treatment of the late President’s legacy in a discussion on the Happy Morning Show with Samuel Eshun had this to say;
“The legacies of the late President Atta Mills cannot be taken away. After his death when have they (NDC) touted his achievements? There has been an attempt to obliterate his legacy but it won’t stand,” he stated.
According to him, organizations like the Atta Mills Institute will always make sure the great works of the late President are not lost.
Highlighting some of the great initiatives and achievements of the late President, he said, “late President Mills started the fund for the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC), he set up the fund for the Circle Interchange. The late Mills sourced funds to start the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), the Ridge Hospital and Kejetia Market.”
There are a lot more the late President has done for Ghana which deserves recognition but Andy Kankam believes some evil people want him (late Mills) to lose that.
He expressed shock over the refusal of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to attribute or recognize him (Atta Mills) for any national project after his death.
The Atta Mills Institute (AMI), has lined up a series of activities to mark the 10th Anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
Subsequently, two projects have been inaugurated for the people of Gonteng, a rural community in the valley of the Aburi Mountains.
Last Thursday, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the AMI, Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho, supported by the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr Samuel Awuku, commissioned a newly constructed corn and cassava mill facility and also inaugurated a renovated three-classroom government school block.
The Atta Mills Institute, a registered think tank, has its core mandate as civic education and public policy Advocacy — and it is based on its main mandate that attention has been given to the school via a facelift in order to support teaching and learning.
