The National Labour Commission (NLC) has obtained a court order to prevent a strike action by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).
The Association stated that the strike aligns with the expiration of an October 31 deadline for the government to address their demands.
This action follows a notice issued on October 23, 2024, in response to what CLOGSAG described as a prolonged delay in finalizing a salary structure for staff, set to be implemented on January 1, 2025.
In a statement, CLOGSAG noted that, despite numerous meetings since then, the government is yet to present a concrete offer.
However, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission countered, insisting that CLOGSAG has yet to respond to the government’s offer on the proposed new salary structure presented to the association.
In a November 7 application, the NLC petitioned an Accra High Court to issue an interim injunction on the industrial action.
After reviewing the application, the court granted the injunction for 10 days, stating that upon its expiration, the applicant would need to return to court with a formal notice.
