The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed workers of the Ghana Highway Authority to suspend their strike.
“Whilst waiting for Respondents to follow the due process they must suspend any/or all industrial action”.
The commission has requested staff of GHA to follow due process, in line with the Labour Act, 2003 (Acts 651).
“The commission met both parties in caucus sessions and observed that, the respondents did not follow due process under the Labour Act, 2003 (Act651) over its intended industrial Action”.
The National Labour Commission (NLc) in a statement, called on the senior staff association of the Ghana Highway Authority to suspend all industrial actions while negotiations are ongoing.
Workers of the Ghana Highway Authority on Monday November 11, 2024 announced its plans to strike indefinitely following plans by government to merge the department of Feeder roads and the department of urban roads to reduce autonomy.
The workers also demanded the removal of two key officials.
