A group calling itself the Nkoranza Youth for Mrs. Lordina Mahama, has refuted claims that the former First Lady had ownership or shares in DKM Microfinance. In a press conference on Thursday July 25, 2024, led by Mustapha Muhammed, the Bono East Regional communications officer for the NDC, the group argued that accusations tying Lordina and her husband, John Dramani Mahama, to DKM’s collapse and the alleged misuse of funds for the NDC’s 2016 campaign were unfounded.

They cited a Bank of Ghana report from January 15, 2016, as reported by ModernGhana.com, which exonerated Lordina Mahama. The Nkoranza Youth condemned the NPP’s February 3, 2016, press conference for spreading false information and pointed out that the NDC had initiated refund processes for affected customers.

They criticized the NPP for exploiting the situation to disseminate misinformation and rewarding those who spread the false claims. The group also alleged that Martin Dele, the owner of DKM, had been released and is now supporting Dr. Mahamud Bawumia’s campaign, despite the fact that 46 people committed suicide due to the loss of their funds.

They defended Lordina Mahama’s reputation as the Nkosuorhemaa of Nkoranza and urged the public to disregard the false allegations and acknowledge her innocence.
