The Nkoranza Traditional Council has refuted claims that it invoked curses on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, over alleged disrespect.
In a statement, the council called the reports false and inconsistent with its values and customs.
Earlier reports stemming from a viral video cited by Happyghana.com purported that the chief and elders of Doromakese in Nkoranza North, Bono East Region, had invoked curses on Mahama and the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Joseph Mensah, following their purported disrespect toward traditional leaders.
According to these claims, Mahama had promised to visit the council but failed to do so, leading to anger among the traditional authorities.
It was also reported that the council had banned NDC campaign activities in Doromakese and invoked the gods to punish anyone who voted for Mahama and Mensah.
However, on Wednesday, September 4, the Nkoranza Traditional Council urged the public to disregard these false reports.
