Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has broken ground for the reconstruction of the Nima-Paloma storm drains.

The 18-month project aims to alleviate the persistent flooding issues affecting residents in the area. At the sod-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 25, in Asylum Down, Greater Accra, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stressed the importance of a functional drainage system for public health, safety, and economic productivity.

He pledged his commitment to the project’s successful completion and thanked the Nana Addo-led government and stakeholders for their support.

Additionally, he announced that Parliament has allocated funds to reconstruct damaged drains, including those from Kaneshie to Accra Academy.

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, commended the government for this initiative, which will help reduce flooding in Asylum Down.

He also urged residents to refrain from dumping waste in gutters to ensure the project’s success.
