Former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has been released from detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
His detention was linked to an investigation into financial matters during his tenure as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).
The release was confirmed by his legal counsel, Ken Kuranchie, who stated that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home on Sunday morning when a group of men in three pickup trucks arrived and informed him that he was needed at the NIB.
He voluntarily accompanied them to the NIB headquarters before being transferred to their offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
According to Kuranchie, the investigation focuses on financial matters related to certain approvals made during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure at GIIF.
