The Divisional Executives Council of the Public Services Workers Union, under the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana’s National Identification Authority (NIA) Division, declared an industrial strike commencing Monday October 7.
In a press release, the union cited the employer’s failure to implement the newly approved scheme of service as the reason for the strike. The workers will not halt their industrial action until the agreed scheme is implemented.
“After exhaustive patience and repeated demands, we regret to inform you that your unacceptable failure to operationalise the newly approved Scheme of Service (SoS) has compelled us to take this decisive action beginning Monday, October 7, 2024. And by extension, all our members will not avail ourselves to work until the scheme of service is fully operationalised”, they stated.
The workers have vowed not to call off their industrial action until the agreed scheme of service is implemented, citing the employer’s failure as a breach of trust and a threat to their well-being.
