The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that starting Monday, 7th April 2025, it will begin issuing printed backlog Ghana Cards and conducting first-time registrations at all District Offices within the Greater Accra Region.
This initiative is part of the NIA’s renewed commitment to register every eligible Ghanaian and ensure they possess the Ghana Card, the nation’s primary identification document.
In a statement, the NIA assured applicants who have been waiting since June 2023 that the issuance process will officially resume on Monday.
The Authority emphasized that first-time registration and card issuance remain free of charge. However, fees will still apply for services such as card replacements and updates to personal information.
The NIA reaffirmed its dedication to building a robust national identification system that includes all Ghanaians.
