NHIA CEO Pledges transparency and accountability in operations

The Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, has promised to enhance transparency and accountability in the operations of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

During a staff durbar in Tamale as part of his working visit to the Northern Region, Dr. Bampoe addressed concerns over alleged extortions and misappropriation of funds.

He called on staff to restore public confidence, emphasizing, “It is not only resetting the country but resetting the way we do our things. We expect that you work even harder, smarter, and produce even more so that we can make the NHIS in Ghana proud.”

Outlining his vision, Dr. Bampoe highlighted plans to strengthen internal controls to prevent fraud, achieve universal health coverage, and implement initiatives such as “Mahama Cares” for chronic renal disease patients.

He also announced a Human Resource audit aimed at addressing staff concerns and improving working conditions.
