The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has been arrested by the Police.
It was revealed that Mr. Ampofo was picked up earlier in the early hours of Tuesday June 11, 2019 over alleged connection with arsons and kidnappings in the country.
Former National Communications Officer of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah, confirmed this on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show.
The reports further indicated that the National Chairman of the largest opposition party has been moving from hotel to hotel passing his nights away from home.
The NDC had earlier raised alarm that Government was making moves to arrest its National Chairman.
According to the opposition party, it had learnt that the government, using the security agencies, had obtained a court order in the past few days for the arrest of the National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is currently standing trial over a leaked tape in which a voice purported to be his is heard calling for political kidnappings and assassinations of some persons in Ghana.
Ever since,there has been several cases of kidnappings and market fires which the police had reportly linking the NDC chairman to.
In the leaked audio, the NDC Chairman is heard declaring ruthless war against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa.
