National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw, has reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to women’s empowerment and development.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC Women’s Manifesto at KNUST’s Great Hall in the Ashanti Region on Monday September 30, Dr. Bissiw emphasized that the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, recognize the vital role women play in national development.

She criticized the Nana Addo-led government for neglecting women’s welfare, citing the taxation of sanitary pads, which disproportionately burdens women financially. Dr. Bissiw also condemned the government’s silence regarding the arrest of a pregnant woman during the recent Democracy Hub demonstration at 37 Roundabout.

In contrast, Dr. Bisiw highlighted the NDC’s proactive approach to women’s empowerment, exemplified by John Mahama’s selection of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate. This move, she says, demonstrates the party’s dedication to gender inclusivity and women’s leadership. Dr. Bissiw urged Ghanaians to support the NDC and vote for their candidates if they truly value women’s welfare.
