NDC urges EC to broadcast meeting live for transparency

NDC Amenfi Central set to elect a new parliamentary candidate on Sunday September 8

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has requested that its forthcoming meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) be aired live to promote transparency during discussions on the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) for the upcoming December 7 general elections.

In an official statement, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey stressed the need for public access to the talks.

“A live broadcast of the meeting will ensure transparency of the engagement,” Mr. Kwetey stated in the letter.

This request follows an earlier communication from the NDC on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, where the party urged the EC to convene a meeting to address “very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims discrepancies were uncovered following an analysis of the Provisional Voters Register supplied by the Electoral Commission (EC) and the voter lists displayed at various centres.

Along with other concerned groups, the NDC has voiced concern about irregularities observed during the voter register exhibition period, held from August 20 to August 27.
