Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have reportedly locked the stores of the Awutu Senya West Assembly, as well as the offices of the Awutu Senya East and Gomoa East District Assemblies.
Led by the party’s Communications Officer, Cassius Oto Larbi, the group asserted that the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections grants them the authority to take control of government institutions within the districts.
Reports indicate that Mr. Larbi led the group in locking the offices and issuing warnings to officials. Additionally, the supporters instructed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to cease using official government vehicles, intensifying tensions in the area.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of similar takeovers of government institutions by NDC supporters across the country following their electoral win.
