The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dropped a bombshell audio recording that purportedly exposes Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame for allegedly engaging in malice against Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
The exposé, aired at the NDC Headquarters, corroborates claims made by Richard Jakpa during a court hearing earlier this month.
The audio is in complete contradiction of a statement made by the A-G in a recent press release about the exclusion of the A-G from any meetings with any party on the case.
Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance trial case, testified that the Attorney General had approached him multiple times to falsify his testimony against Ato Cassiel Forson.
The recording, a phone conversation from April 9, 2024, is presented as one of several attempts by the A-G to influence Jakpa’s testimony.
In the recording, following a discussion about ambulance payments, the Minister of Justice is heard encouraging Jakpa to alter his testimony, saying, “If you agree to this deal; it’s so simple; if you go by the way that I want you to go about it, it will make everything simple for you.” Dame also suggested Jakpa delays the trial with a fake medical excuse.
Jakpa refused the offer, stating, “If I go by that way, frankly speaking I will be dishonest because I know that is not how it is supposed to be; I will be assisting for someone who is completely innocent about this to be jailed.” He further emphasized his ethical stance, saying, “I knew something was wrong and be quiet and answer the questions the A-G wants me to anytime you ask me I tell you that I cannot do it; I will battle with my conscience.”
