NDC reinstates Central Regional Chairman after a month suspension

Elections 2024: Effutu NDC petitions Paramount Chief over electoral irregularities

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reinstated its Central Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, following a one-month suspension for alleged anti-party conduct.

In a statement released on Friday, August 2, the party announced that Prof. Asiedu is to resume his role as the Central Regional Chairman immediately.

However, his future actions will be closely monitored to ensure he does not negatively impact the party’s prospects for the December 7 elections.

The statement, signed by the party’s Chairman Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, referenced Article 48(9)(f) of the party’s constitution, which governs such reinstatements.

Prof. Asiedu’s suspension was related to a controversy involving the withdrawal of the Assin Central parliamentary candidate, Shaibu Migyimah, over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with the wife of the constituency General Secretary, Sadique Broni.
