The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has assured that the next NDC government will enhance the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, and not abolish it.
Addressing a rally in Sekondi during her three-day campaign tour of the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, former Minister of Education, emphasized that the NDC invested heavily in building Community Day Schools and initiated Progressively Free SHS. She urged Ghanaians to disregard anti-NDC propaganda suggesting the program’s cancellation.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined the NDC’s plan to improve Free SHS implementation by investing in classroom and boarding infrastructure to eliminate the double track system, providing teaching and learning materials for schools, and ensuring adequate food supply for students.
She emphasized that the NDC aims to address the current challenges in the education calendar, improve teaching quality, and provide better resources for students. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged voters to support John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his promise of enhancing education and creating jobs through the 24-Hour Economy policy
