The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has launched “Operation 9 over 9” with the goal of reclaiming three parliamentary seats from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Regional Party Chairman Michael Aidoo popularly known as Big Aidoo expressed confidence in the operation, stating that the issues that led to the previous losses have been addressed.
He said currently, the NDC holds six out of the nine seats in the region, with the NPP holding the remaining three.
Mr. Aidoo emphasized that the three NPP-held seats rightfully belong to the NDC, as they were previously lost due to specific challenges. He cited the Akontombra constituency, which has historically been won by the NDC, but was lost to the NPP due to misunderstandings.
In the case of Sefwi Wiawso, Mr. Aidoo alleged that the NPP won the seat through election rigging. As for Bibiani, he claimed that the NPP used questionable methods to take the seat from the NDC, but the party has since taken corrective measures.
He highlighted the party’s ongoing house-to-house campaign, noting that residents have assured them of their support. He also pointed to the high demand for NDC T-shirts as a sign of growing enthusiasm, suggesting that the NDC is on track to reclaim the seats.
