The National Democratic Congress, (NDC), planned demonstration has been crushed with the death of former President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur.
NDC after a late Press Conference at 11:00 pm on June 28 2018 had staged to demonstrate over the sack of the Electoral Commission Boss, Madam Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Georgina Apoku Amankwah and Mr Amdu Sulley scheduled for Friday June 29 at 7 am.
President Akufo Addo had sacked the EC boss on the grounds of incompetence and misbehaviour after the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akufo had set up a committee to investigate the heads of the EC in pursuant to Article 146(4) of the constitution.
However, awakening to the planned demonstration was met with the sadden death of the former Veep and governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, Mr Arthur, who had died in the early hours of Friday while jogging.
He had collapsed while keeping fit and was rushed to the 37 Military hospital where he was pronounced dead.
President Akufo Addo in a Facebook post has expressed shock over the sadden demise of Mr Arthur hailing him as “fine public servant”.
He was 67 years.
