NDC can’t pay for electricity in its m national headquarters edifice- Spio-Garbrah

A former Minister of Trade and Industry under the Mahama led administration and Presidential hopeful, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah has revealed that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot afford electricity bills at the party’s $20 million National Headquarters.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he said ‘’when you want to hold an event at the National headquarters of our party, you would have to provide money for fuel for the generator because there is no money to pay bills.’’

He also stated that the grassroots of the party have been neglected for far too long “we met branch and constituency executives in classrooms and even under trees. We still house some constituency offices in kiosk and dilapidated structures and this is why I will provide transformational leadership.’’

Meanwhile, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a Member of Parliament (MP) of the NDC for Odododiodoo constituency, stated that any presidential ambitions Spio Garbrah will have, will not materialize because the party would prefer a younger candidate.

However, before the NDC came to power in 2009, it was facing ejection from its Kokomlemle headquarters over unpaid rents.
Two years in government the party put up the magnificent building, only to deny ownership of the edifice when public attention was drawn to it.

A behaviour that caused many to question the credibility of the leadership of the then ruling NDC which had President Mahama as its leader in this whole affair.
